Freedom of Speech? Freedom of Religion?
What an interesting day August 1, 2012 was for Americans. Perhaps, even around the world others were watching as a unique event unfolded.
It started back a few weeks actually, where the owner of Chick-Fil-A shared that he was "pro traditional marriage." This made many people upset, but the question why is what isn't clear. For you see, the homosexual community has an opposing view, or a different one. Yet you don't see those in opposition to their view trying to go after them and their businesses. We do see it from one side, and people are up in arms for many reasons, and no, not literally up in arms.
This is really a free speech issue. We can test that and see. What is so wrong with stating one's opinion of what he agrees with? In this case, its traditional marriage. Do people have a right to never be offended? If they are offended, why? Why does a person they disagree with, matter so much to them? This whole debate runs deeper than what meets the eye. That is where the crux of this battle is taking place, that shouldn't be taking place.
Why not leave people alone? Is there some suggestion out there, that it is actually ok to hurt those that disagree with you? Is there some suggestion that only some people's freedom of speech applies? Is there some suggestion that there is only freedoms to some religions out there, and not all? If so, these are very bad, and illogical suggestions.
People are tired of the games, of seeing "gone after" for simply voicing their opinions. I don't think it got really bad until 3 different mayors, Boson being one of the outspoken cities, suggested that this man and his company not even try to ever open one of their restaurants there, or else they will have a hard time doing so! For what? For voicing his opinion that he agrees with traditional marriage, or is pro traditional marriage? How does this "follow?"
When we see such unreasonableness play out, and then so much twisting and distorting going on, we have to ask why some humans engage in such behaviors against others. Are the reasons they are suggesting, making sense, are they justifiable? No, and this is a huge clue to finding out if this is what it is really about? It should be about consistency, about truly fair rights for all, but if you look closely it isn't about those things.
Don't stop paying attention now, America. Keep your eyes open, and never ever be bullied by those that want to silence you simply for having a difference of opinion or belief. Be for freedoms for ALL people, and care about the particulars of the debates that are ensuing. Often, you can tell who is supporting a less viable position because of tactics being used, when truth doesn't suffice. Some ideas are good, some are bad. Let us be logical, reasonable people that truly care about all people. That is what I am for, and I am a fan of the Constitution of the United States of America.
What is going on in our world?
Contempt of Congress Charges?
Wow, is this whole thing a big mess with Eric Holder and President Obama and Fast and Furious. If I had to say anything to Americans now, I would say please don't fall asleep now,or wake up if you have dozed off. This stuff is far too serious to not look into deeply for yourself.
The strong reactions from the left are especially of concern to me. It does seem to be the case that the President and those that have similar philosophies are above the law. It is an attitude we are seeing over and over. The rules simply don't apply.
I am proud of the media that is trying to stick to the facts, and point out when I feel like they aren't being totally fair to even Obama and or Holder. The thing is, they are on their side it seems, most of all. People have died. The government is hiding something. When looking at all the possible choices of what was best to do, Obama decided to keep things hidden. We keep seeing clips of him saying thing, contradicting himself.
Here is the thing, no matter what we think of the right, or conservatives now, we cannot allow the government to get away with murder. I feel like this is not only the obvious thing that it is, but more than that, it is an experiment of sorts on an American public that is not really awake or caring about all the facts. It seems this government is testing the waters just like a strong willed child. It is as if they are saying, "how much exactly, can we get away with, or when will America put her foot down, if ever?" That, is what is alarming the most, with all the things that are alarming.

The Japan Earthquake and all of the aftershocks
My heart goes out to the people of Japan and surrounding areas affected by the huge earthquake, the 7th largest ever recorded. There is a lot of concern about the impact of the Nuclear Power plant and that there may be a melt down. I pray for all these people and their families.
The double impact of tsunamis on top of everything else makes it especially hard to imagine how they are all dealing with things.

Our deeper intuitions resonate with certain things. Is there a God, a creator and does he have rules?
It is God's rules and laws in his own universe that we all may or may not agree
with. Its not odd though that he would have them, and that at the end of time,
after all has been said and done that people may have to answer for those broken
laws.
This is God's own provision that is done before any of us came into being, and
that by ignoring cannot change what He has done. Therefore, our position is one
of responding the best we can with the knowledge we do have. Many try to best
know how to respond. Of course each of us here will differ on what is best
perhaps, but my guess is that on such a serious matter we will all do as we see
is best to do no matter what our worldview or religion.
I can only speak for me, and these are my thoughts. We can make a rough
situation worse by making the death of Jesus worth nothing for the ignoring of
it. The only thing worse than what we see (death and slavery from our own sins
and the cost to Jesus and His Father) is to mock the death of Jesus by ignoring
it and insisting on paying the price twice. Its needless waste of life and
especially if its just for pride and then all is still lost anyway.
When one thinks about it, one can see why God cannot ignore the ignoring of what
His own son chose to do, lay down his own life (his own words, and knowing and
trusting it was once for all and can raise it back up.) We can imagine the loss
to God as He is Father. If ever a parent, this loss seems only more acute in
trying to understand, but especially so in a totally perfect human being. Jesus
knew the cost and benefits both, and chose to proceed, and there was love
motivating Him I am sure of and He was not unaware of the Power. We don't know
of any "cost" to Jesus if he should say no, and He and His Father were one, and
the pain of Jesus was surely all the more painful to His Father. The reward,
that He is the name above all names forever and ever, and it is rightly owed,
and the relationship that cannot be imagined with the creation that wants it
also.
Lest I sound like I am totally defending something I don't altogether undertand,
please let me make it clear that I don't have all the answers, but I am trying
to respond to what I do see and know of the Creator of this Universe. I don't
know why God didn't come down as the Father and do this instead of Jesus. I
truly think HE knows best about what is best for all of us, and that He KNOWS
the path (unpleasant as it may be at times) to the best of all possible worlds.
If God is who he and Jesus say He is, then all things look as they should and
would to me in nature and humanity and every aspect of the universe. These
things cannot be made up, but seem to just "be".....and for a reason.
Leaving enough room to doubt for those insisting on doing so, seems a fair thing
to me, but also allowing for very good reasons for coming to a conclusion that
no better suggestion can be honestly given, for what "is and seems to be".
Relationship sought with a creation and all the incredibly complex details that
it entails comes often down to trust and faith in the things we DO see and know.
The not forcing on anyone, and yet the necessity of what we all seem to know is
true that true evil must be dealt with.
A God truly broken and cut to the core over his own Son's death may be be one
little way in which we can maybe begin to understand the severity of the
rejecting of the free gift to us that cost him literally everything. Thus,
rewarding those that follow and trust and love and accept as they can, and
punishing evil that has broken laws. We know in our own societies that to not
punish with a good judging system, true evil, that no good can be had by "the
law abiding citizens" that just want to work and have a good life. We should
expect no less by the laws and powers governing all of the Universe and all that
it entails, should we?
Our deepest intuitions seem to resonate as well with I think Jesus spoke of
about life and death and all things in between and the ever after. This my
understanding and my thoughts, and I try to respond even though I fall short. I
truly believe it is the hope and truth for all mankind, and the best route to
the best possible world.
This is admittedly long and rambling, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

These are some thoughts on what I think is going on in our world regarding the creator of the world and how that Creator interacts to some degree. I think it makes more sense that something that is sufficient to get the job done, of creation needs to be at least as intelligent as though likely much more. The cosmological argument is a very strong one I think for the existence of God. There are many others though. I will post here some thoughts, on occasion that have come to me based on what I know and how I think about things.
Hope you may weigh in, and share your "two cents" if you like, even if what you think and believe varies very much from what I do. Thanks for stopping by. Ocean
